The Terwa – Nordic Hideaway: Safety instructions for guests

(These instructions can be found in the rooms and cottages, as well as electronically with a QR code or link. Familiarize yourself with the instructions as soon as you check in.)

  • First aid kit: All accommodation units have a first aid kit, the manor has a first aid cabinet, it can be found in the common areas near the door or in the kitchen cabinet, the location is marked with a ”First aid sign” Green background, white cross”. Make sure you find it when you arrive.
  • Smoke detector: Each accommodation unit has a smoke detector for your safety. Never cover or remove the smoke detector. Inform the staff immediately if you notice any malfunction (e.g. continuous beeping indicates a weak battery - contact isanta@theterwa.com). The smoke detector alarm sounds like a loud siren - leave immediately if you hear it and don't know the reason.
  • In case of fire: If you notice a fire or smoke, remain calm but act immediately. Wake up/eliminate the danger: warn those in the same building (knock on neighbors' doors, shout “Fire!”) and move quickly outside through the nearest exit. Call 112 (emergency number) as soon as you are safe outside, and give the exact address: “Rautakoskentie 421, Loppi, The Terwa Nordic Hideaway, cottage/Mansion [indicate which building]”. Try to extinguish the initial fire only if it is small and you feel confident using extinguishers – otherwise, leave immediately. Close the doors behind you when leaving, if possible.
  • Exit routes: Find out immediately upon arrival where to find the exit. The main door is usually the best route. In addition, in an emergency, you can use windows to exit if the route to the door is blocked. Follow the green exit signs in larger buildings (in the Mansion, Väentupa, Headquarters, and Barn) – they show the way out.
  • Assembly point: When you have left the building, go immediately to the resort's common assembly point in front of the Headquarters building. The assembly point is marked with a sign. We will ensure there that everyone is safe. Do not leave the area without permission during an emergency – the rescue services may be looking for you if you are not at the assembly point. Stay at the assembly point until you receive further instructions from the person in charge or the rescue authorities.
  • Emergency calls and contact information: You can get help in all emergency situations (fire, illness, accident) from the general emergency number 112. The person in charge of the resort, Kari Järvenpää, can be reached at 040 049 0922 around the clock – call him in an emergency if you need help or immediate emergency advice, otherwise send an email to isanta@theterwa.com. The area has good mobile network coverage; if your phone can't find a network, go outside and try again or ask another guest for help.
  • Making fire and smoking:Smoking is prohibited in all indoor areas. Smoke only in designated outdoor areas and use the ashtrays provided for cigarette butts. Never smoke in bed or in forested terrain. Candles or outdoor fires may only be lit with staff permission and guidance: usually, electric candles are available in the cabins to create ambiance – use those preferably. Fireplace/sauna: If you use the fireplace of Väentupa or the beach sauna or a wood-fired sauna, use them carefully according to the instructions. Never leave a fire or stove unattended. Ensure that the fire is properly extinguished before you leave or go to bed. Ashes should be placed in metal containers, and do not pour ashes into the trash or into nature.
  • General safety: Keep your cabin doors locked when you're away, but make sure you can get out in an emergency. Keep the first aid kit and flashlight easily accessible in your cabin – they are usually found in the hallway closet or kitchen drawer. Report to staff immediately if you notice anything causing insecurity (e.g. faulty device, burned lamp in outdoor lighting, slippery spot on stairs or open well etc.). You move around the area at your own risk, but we want to make the environment as safe as possible.
  • When you arrive and leave: Familiarize yourself with the safety instructions in your accommodation. Note where the nearest extinguisher and fire blanket are located. Check the escape route. Tell your travel companions or family what to do in an emergency. When you leave, make sure that electrical appliances are turned off and nothing causing a fire hazard is left on (stove, oven, sauna, iron, etc.). Also extinguish candles and fireplaces well in advance.

Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring safety! Relax and enjoy your vacation, but keep these instructions in mind. We care about your safety – together we ensure that The Terwa Nordic Hideaway remains a cozy and safe place for everyone.
