The Terwa – Nordic Hideaway is a place where natural serenity, high quality, and responsibility meet. We respect the area's long history and unique environment, and responsibility guides all our activities.
Respect for Nature and Sustainable Tourism
The Terwa is located in the heart of Nordic nature, and therefore its protection is of utmost importance to us. We use sustainable energy solutions, prefer local and ecological materials, and minimize our environmental impact in all our operations. This means, among other things:
- Energy-efficient solutions in accommodation and services – heating of new log buildings is done with environmentally friendly ground heat.
- Organizing composting and hazardous waste (e.g., batteries) as well as bottle collection.
- All community waste is utilized as emission-free energy at the Ekokemi facility, which produces heat for Hyvinkää and Riihimäki.
- Responsibly produced raw materials in restaurant services and seasonal food.
Appreciation of Locality and Tradition
As part of the manor's history and heritage, we support local producers and artisans. This is reflected, among other things, in:
- Local food and the best seasonal raw materials are utilized in restaurant services.
- Preferring local materials in construction and interior design.
- Preserving the traditions related to the production of tar and turpentine, which is reflected as part of The Terwa's identity and guest experience.
